Protecting student privacy
Most participants are children, so their pages are built to share as little as possible.
Choose how names appear
In each event's Settings, under Privacy, Participant names on public pages controls how students' names appear on every public page of that event:
- First name and last initial (Emma R.): the default, and the right choice for most schools.
- First name only (Emma).
- Full name (Emma Rivera).
Whichever you choose, the text on a student's page and their donate button use their first name.
What we do for every student
- Web addresses use only a first name and last initial, never a full name.
- Search engines are asked not to list students' pages. Families find them through the link you share or the event page.
- Analytics never records a student's name or page address.
- Parent emails stay inside the portal.
- No photos of students are asked for or shown.
Taking a page down
If a family asks for their child's page to come down, untick Active (page is public) on the participant. See Editing, deactivating and removing participants.
