Creating your first event

Getting your fundraiser online takes about five minutes. Signing up has three steps, and each one is saved as soon as you finish it, so you can stop and pick up where you left off.

Step 1: Your account

  1. Go to Start a Fundraiser.
  2. Enter your Email address first. If that address already has an account (for example, because someone at your school added you), we'll tell you straight away and offer Sign in or Reset your password instead, so you don't fill in the form for nothing.
  3. Add your First name, Last name and a Password of at least 8 characters, then choose Continue.

If you see a Sign up with Google button, you can use your Google account instead of a password.

Step 2: Your organization

This is the school, PTA, PTO or group running the fun run.

  • School or organization name: shown on every event page, e.g. "Lincoln Elementary PTA".
  • Web address: your pages will live at funrunfundraiser.com/your-school. It's filled in from the name; use lowercase letters, numbers and dashes. Choose carefully, since changing it later breaks links you've already shared.
  • Phone number: optional.

When you choose Continue, you become the organization's first Admin, and we create a starting grade list (Kindergarten through 5th Grade) that you can change later.

Step 3: Your event

  • Event name, e.g. "Spring Fun Run 2027", and its Web address.
  • Event date: you can add an end date later for events that run over several days.
  • Fundraising goal: the total you hope to raise.
  • Participant names on public pages: how much of each student's name the public sees. See Protecting student privacy.
  • Choose a plan: Basic, Plus or Premium. See Choosing a plan.

Choose Create my event and you'll land on the event's Overview, ready for the next steps.

Tip: You can add a description, location, logo and colors at any time in the event's Settings. Don't let them hold you up now.

Didn't finish?

Sign in and open your organization's Dashboard. The Getting started checklist has a Create your first event link that takes you back to step 3.
